Job Description

If you are searching for employment that is Innovative, Trauma Informed, Challenging and Rewarding all at the same time, Norris may have just what you are looking for!

Norris is a well established and continually growing residential treatment program providing services to youth and families.  We are searching for an experienced and dedicated professional to assume the position of Overnight Assistant Supervisor (OAS).

Under the supervision of the Overnight Supervisor, the Overnight Assistant Supervisor (OAS) supports managing the nightly operations of the campus in accordance with hall schedules, policies and procedures, licensing requirements, purchaser expectations, and best practice standards.  The OAS ensures hall services during the sleeping hours, addresses youth needs according to their plans (i.e., treatment, safety, guidance, etc.), and ensures all Norris buildings and grounds, including the Norris School District, are secure.

The OAS acts as a role model, provides consistent support, coaching, and guidance for employees as they address youth needs and helps employees implement trauma informed principles, uses and teaches de-escalation techniques, and serves as a resource. The OAS also serves as the point person for communication and handling crises by delegating responsibilities or directly handling those emergent needs.  The OAS effectively communicates employee and program recommendations to the Overnight Supervisor, Hall Managers, and Director of Group Care.

The OAS is part of the Residential Leadership team and routinely serves in the role of  Leader on Duty (LOD).  When not serving in the role of LOD, the OAS serves as part of the overall team providing direct oversight of all halls. The OAS ensures sensitivity to the ethnic and cultural diversity of youth, families and employees while effectively communicating and promoting the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of Norris.  As a 24/7 treatment program, the OAS position requires the individual to work a flexible schedule in order to support the needs of their hall and the program and understands that their schedule is subject to change to meet the program’s evolving needs at any time, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Requirements: 3 years experience working with children involved in the child welfare/juvenile justice system. Preferred: Bachelors or Associates Degree in a social or behavioral science.
