What your job will look like:

Jefferson Lab is seeking a creative Photography and/or Videography student to join our team in this year-round positionas a Multimedia Intern.Responsible for assisting the Multimedia Photo and Video Specialist in a variety of photography and videography needs. More emphasis will focus on day-to-day people and event photography, post-processing/editing, metadata creation, and historical archiving. Promote a Department of Energy national lab while also contributing to the preservation of its history.

In this role, you will...

  • Photograph, post-process/edit, and archive various visual themes and subjects at Jefferson Lab for use in publications, scientific research presentations, websites, social media, and internal and external communication needs.
  • Create extensive metadata for all images for historical archiving purposes.
  • Use, or to be trained in Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, Photo Mechanic, and Final Cut Pro.
  • Collaborate on semesterly reviews with Multimedia Specialist and Creative Services Manager for future development.

Qualifications:

  • Full-time college student majoring in Photography, Videography, or other multimedia areas with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.Wide range of media, including photography and post-production editing.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen.
  • Must be available to work a 18-20 hours per week while attending schooland 40 hours per week between school sessions (ex: spring break, summer break, and winter break)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of manual camera settings, lighting subjects, and/or studio setups.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Outstanding oral communications skills.
  • Skilled at handling multiple tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and complete complex and varied tasks with limited supervision.
  • Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate, explore and implement alternative solutions.
  • Ability to work well in a team with others, including printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, account executives, website designers and/or market specialists.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
