Title: REGISTERED NURSE: SURGICAL SCHEDULER-OR

Scheduled Hours: Mon-Friday schedule;

Hours 9a-5:30p;

Full Time

Job Summary:

As a Surgical Scheduler, you will proactively plan, coordinate direct and manage the Operating Room schedule in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Provide leadership to support staff and associates of the Operating Room. To collaborate with physicians to provide the service and supplies needed for high quality peri-operative care.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of an efficient and effective surgery schedule
  • Inter and Intra departmental, and physician working relationships are managed to achieve continued user satisfaction and excellent patient care
  • Collaborates with Clinical Manager to monitor and assess staff developmental needs to ensure competence
  • Associates are coached and mentored in order to direct the strategic plan.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Position Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Current IL RN license
  • Nurses with more than 12 months experience in direct patient care must possess a BSN or obtain either BSN within 4 years of hire or obtain an Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) recognized nursing certification within one year of the date of hire or becoming eligible to sit for certification, whichever is later.
  • 2 years' nursing experience in the Surgical/Operating Room setting with evidence of leadership ability
  • Certifications/education required for the nursing specialty (CNOR)
  • Current CPR
  • Good communication and human relation skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Must have EPIC/Optime experience with scheduling
  • Ability to conceptualize
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under time constraints in a fast-paced environment and in demanding situations
  • Ability to flex hours
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others at sufficient pace.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
