The Manager of Primary Research is responsible for all primary research initiatives (consumer, customer, product and marketplace) within La Macchia Enterprises (LME).
This individual develops the processes, tools and methodologies to provide the company with insights into consumer behavior, customer satisfaction, brand preferences and product design to support strategic decision-making across LME brands.

The position receives supervision from the Director of Consumer Insights/Research.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Designs and implements studies to accurately gauge and measure consumer and market perspectives
  • Fosters relationships with internal clients to develop understanding of key issues, decisions to be made, and impact on the business - and to permit proactive support/advisory role
  • Designs, analyzes and reports multiple internal and external survey initiatives
  • Creates and delivers effective reports and presentations to convey key findings and insights
  • Provides recommendations on 'next step' actions for the study's sponsors
  • Develops relationships with outside marketing research suppliers, as needed
  • Negotiates with outside research suppliers when specialized expertise is required for a given study
  • Manages the allocated research budget and projects within the framework provided by department head


    Requirements:

    • Master's degree or equivalent; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Thorough knowledge and experience with analytical products, software and statistical techniques, including but not limited to multivariate and conjoint analysis. SPSS and data mining experience a plus.
    • Complex problem-solving: ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
    • Client orientation: understands internal and external clients' needs and concerns; responds promptly and effectively to client needs; customizes services and products as appropriate.
    • Analytical thinking and decisive judgment: analyze issues and problems systematically, gather broad and balanced input to draw sound conclusions and translate these conclusions into timely decisions and actions.
    • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills in written and verbal communication.
    • Strong project management and time management skills. Ability to create and execute detailed project plans and multitask.
    • Results-oriented: makes things happen; is proactive; balances "analysis" with "doing"; sets high standards for self; commits to organizational goals.
    • Understanding of the travel industry, its competitive landscape, issues and foreseen innovations. (Can be developed on the job.)
