Job Summary:
This position is responsible for a wide variety of communications activities including the creation and distribution of product announcements, technical bulletins, presentations, advertisements, intranet and internet site content, print publications, video and other communication media as required. Also responsible for developing and maintaining brand presence, awareness and consistency in the market.
This position works under minimal supervision, reporting to the Director - HR & Shared Services. It requires frequent contact with employees at all levels of the organization, customers and vendors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans, researches, designs, writes, edits and coordinates production of product announcements, technical bulletins, catalogs, advertisements and training materials including written and graphic content.

Edits communications developed by self and others to ensure proper grammar, usage, punctuation, spelling, clarity, consistency, and compliance with corporate brand standards.

Administers company websites, maintaining home page quality, brand compliance and integrity of content. Writes and uploads new content, and updates as needed.

Coordinates internal and external marketing efforts to support promotion of sales and marketing programs and events in consultation with the Director - Sales Management and the Director - Alliant Power.

Assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating of special events such as dealer meetings and trade shows.

Represents the organization in negotiations with printing firms and other vendors. Prepares specifications conforming to bid processes, obtains estimates, and assists in vendor selection for projects in various media.

Directs the activities of independent vendors such as photographers, videographers, graphic designers, web developers, and printers.

Provides photography support as needed.

Produces error-free communications.

Obtains appropriate approvals on all communications.
Education, prior work experience and specialized skills/knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or Journalism. Minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience. Excellent writing, editing, grammar and speaking skills. Outstanding relationship-building and team-building skills. Project management, customer service, research and investigative skills. Ability to multi-task in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. Deadline-focused. Ability to produce error-free materials. Proficient with software required to meet job expectations, specifically knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio), publishing/layout software including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks; and Web knowledge in CSS and/or PHP.
